- Editorial Solutions provides consulting services to business magazine
publishers. Launched in 1989, ES has worked with 38 clients ranging
from single-magazine owners to associations and leading multi-
publishers. Company founder and president Howard Rauch is a recent
recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award sponsored by the
American Society of Business Publication Editors. Currently, he chairs
ASBPE's ethics committee and is a regular blogger on the group's
national site (www.asbpe.org). Before launching ES, Howard spent 21
years at Gralla Publications (New York), the last 13 as VP/editorial
director. In that position, he supervised a 20-magazine operation.
Among his accomplishments was creation of an extensive in-house
training program. At its peak, the program encompassed over 40
workshops per year geared to various editorial levels. ES specializes
in competitive analysis reports, performance studies, tailored in-house
training and in-depth critiques.
- SIGN UP FOR IN-DEPTH E-NEWS COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS REPORT: The
typical study is based on a review of all e-news posted during a 30-
day period. Included is a Fix-It Alert assessment that immediately
identifies content deficiencies in eight key categories. A recently
completed ES study of e-news delivery suggests there's much to be
gained by comparing your performance vs. competition. A separate
section of the report is devoted to "like-item analysis." This refers to
the fact that during the study period, a certain percentage of
competitive e-news articles cover identical events. You'll find out how
often your coverage either excels or lags behind the opposition. In
total, the finished report includes (1) results of eight-factor scoring;
(2) detailed suggestions for improving your coverage on an article-by
article basis; (3) source review designed to reflect presence or
absence of balanced coverage; (4) new FIX-IT ALERT evaluation. For
